Live, learn, work and volunteer in Tanzania through a structured 6 or 12-week volunteer placement designed to give you more than a traditional gap year. Alongside your placement, take part in weekly Global Citizenship sessions exploring culture, development, sustainability, ethics and responsible international engagement.

Throughout the Academy, you’ll build confidence, independence and self-awareness while working towards a relevant Level 3 Global Citizenship Diploma and developing a deeper understanding of the world around you.
Academy life is a huge part of the experience. You’ll live alongside a group of young people from across Europe, the UK, Australia, North America and beyond — sharing the everyday moments, big adventures and slightly chaotic stories that turn a group of strangers into your Tanzania family.
Your Academy Home Base is more than somewhere to sleep. It’s where you’ll eat together, learn together, hang out, make plans, celebrate, study and unwind between internships and adventures.
Across four phases, your volunteer placement evolves from settling into Tanzania and understanding your role to developing a meaningful Volunteer Project, building confidence, taking responsibility, and leaving something useful behind. Each stage gives you time to listen, learn, collaborate, contribute and reflect as your experience develops.

Settle into Tanzania, begin your volunteer placement, meet your cohort and start understanding your new environment.

Weeks 4–5
Build relationships, understand your placement and begin exploring what could genuinely be useful to your local partner.
Weeks 6–10
Work with your project to develop, test and refine a practical, capacity building based, Legacy Project based on a genuine local need.
Weeks 11–12
Complete your Legacy Project, hand it over properly, reflect on your experience and look towards what's next.
Support education, empowerment and youth development through volunteering.
Support animal welfare, veterinary care and conservation across Tanzania.
Explore supervised healthcare opportunities across Tanzania's diverse communities.
Understand your values and perspective while discovering what shapes you most.
Build confidence through new experiences, challenges and greater independence.
Learn to adapt, solve problems and navigate unfamiliar situations with resilience.
Develop communication, responsibility and leadership through real-world experience.
Your Volunteer Project is developed with your local placement partner around a genuine need or opportunity. The aim is to leave something tangible behind that communities and local organisations can continue using for years after your time in Tanzania.

Experience Tanzania’s famous northern safari circuit on an included multi-day safari surrounded by extraordinary wildlife and landscapes.
Explore northern Tanzania through waterfalls, coffee country, mountains, cultural experiences, local markets, cycling, food and wildlife adventures.
Swap safari country for the Indian Ocean with an included overland tour across usambara mountains, featuring beaches, Swahili coastal culture, island life and time with your cohort.
